2 Million Ballots Cast in L.A. County

On the Oct. 29 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters discuss voter turnout, body camera video showing the shooting of Fred Williams and Kevin de León’s priorities as city council member. 

Voter Turnout 
Los Angeles County voters have cast more than 2 million ballots so far, mostly by mail and drop boxes due to the pandemic. Libby Denkmann shares how this compares to previous elections. 

LASD Bodycam 
On Friday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department will release the body came video of the fatal shooting of 25-year-old Fred Williams in the Willowbrook neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Frank Stoltze discusses what is anticipated in the department’s first release of body camera video. 

Council Member de León 
The Los Angeles City Council appointed Kevin de León to the seat left vacant by Jose Huizar amid a corruption scandal. Natalie Chudnovsky spoke with the former President pro tempore of the California State Senate about his priorities for District 14, including homelessness and air quality.
