LAUSD Spends $200 Million in Pandemic Response Efforts

On the October 2 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters and an Asian Journal reporter discuss LAUSD’s pandemic expenditures, the implications of Disney’s job cuts and a growing faction of Filipinos supporting Trump’s reelection.

LAUSD Emergency Spending
The Los Angeles Unified School District has spent more than $200 million under an emergency declaration during the past seven months of the pandemic, according to the county office regulating the district. Kyle Stokes shares more about what the funding has covered.

Disney Job Cuts
Disney announced this week it would cut 28,000 employees, primarily from its parks. Emily Henderson discusses the impact of this decision on regional economy.

Filipinos for Trump
As a last-ditch effort to persuade voters ahead of election day, Filipinos for Trump has scheduled a car parade in West Covina this Saturday. Klarize Medenilla from the Asian Journal reports on the political spectrum she has found in the Filipino-American community.
