Candidates Garcetti and Greuel Move Forward to Runoff
On to Round Two! As was expected, the race to decide L.A.'s next mayor keeps going. A runoff between Eric Garcetti and Wendy Greuel will take place on May 21. Garcetti finished first last night with 33 percent of the vote. Greuel captured 29 percent. Kevin James and Jan Perry each finished with 16 percent. The voters spoke out against higher taxes, and big outside contributions weren't enough to capture some LAUSD Board seats. The turnout was minuscule, but that's a chronic problem around here. Brian Rooney has the election night wrap-up.
