Update: California's Aid-in-dying Law
California’s new Aid-in-dying law will take effect on June 9, 2016, making it possible for terminally ill Californians to choose to end their lives if they meet certain criteria. But not all health care providers will participate. Some consider it “assisted suicide.” In this updated segment, anchor Val Zavala talks to representatives from Catholic hospitals and hospice programs who say good pain control and hospice services can make lethal prescriptions unnecessary. Zavala also meets a doctor whose daughter died a painful death from leukemia and would’ve liked to have the aid-in-dying option.
