The 'F' Word

First up, a report on a controversial oil and gas drilling technique called "fracking," which has some L.A. County Residents worried. The method involves pumping highly pressurized water, sand, and various chemicals to shatter the rocks miles under, allowing the elements to then escape. Oil and gas companies claim it is safe and effective, critics are uncertain. Residents in Inglewood are concerned that what is happening below the surface is splitting the very foundations of their homes.

Next up, a family deals with the issue of taking away the car keys from an aging parent; the woman in question feels a desperation in losing her independence. When the 75-year-old mother is required to take a driving test, her very independence is at stake. It's part of our special series on aging and elder care, "Your Turn to Care."

Last but not least, satirist Brian Unger takes on the ponderous explosion of modern-day distractions and offers a simple solution: a collective time-out.
