Subversive worlds of Libertad Alcántara

Step into an invigorating evening of bold ideas and critical reflection as artist Libertad Alcántara sits down with art critic Shana Nys Dambrot to discuss her creative practice, inspirations, and her first U.S. exhibition at DON’T LOOK Projects. The talk will be followed by the opening of Ahí viene el Coco, a provocative exhibition that reimagines the folkloric boogeyman to confront the systemic violence of global polarization and the creeping beige of cultural conformity. Through sharp critique and haunting imagery, Alcántara’s work dares us to look directly at the forces shaping and erasing our shared humanity.
