Environmental Police Raids Illegal Gold Mine in Peru
A special law in Peru allows environmental prosecutor Karina Garay to confiscate and destroy any machinery used for illegal gold mining. When she and members of the multi-agency Operation Mercury raid suspected mining sites and arrest workers, they aim to find the owners leading illicit operations and fostering related crimes, such as human trafficking and the disappearance of women.
