An operation to shut down illegal gold mining in Peru is tracking the Indigenous Kotsimba community. Illegal activity has increased deforestation, altered rivers and contaminated the territory with mercury. The Kotsimba people say they did not want mining but have learned to leverage globalization and private industry to develop infrastructure and give future generations a chance at success.
