The Letter

This film tells the story of generational relationships and love and the life in the Russian village. In modern Russia the villages are dying out. There are still people living in the villages like the one in the film. Small villages in the middle of the country are places with no work, and a man has to take work contracts somewhere far away to earn money to feed the family (usually it is oil companies). For the younger generation It is extremely important to know and care about its own history. Indeed, without this support the concept of a "village" is simply erased from the earth. Filmmaker: Yana Shmaylova
