Reporter Roundup: Why Have at Home Deaths Spiked?

Season 1 Episode 147

On the May 20 edition of the Reporter Roundup, KPCC reporters discuss why at-home death rates are rising, education cuts and relocating homeless populations from beneath freeway overpasses.

KPCC’s Elly Yu obtained county data showing a sharp increase in at-home deaths in April compared to the same time last year. The question is what is causing the rise.

On Friday a federal judge’s order goes into effect, forcing Los Angeles officials to relocate homeless people from beneath freeway overpasses. Matt D’Angelantonio has been following the court case.

KPCC’s Kyle Stokes has details on how state budget cuts may impact the Los Angeles Unified School District.
