Getting to know the people of Watts is key in understanding the essence of the community. Aqueela Sherrills has dedicated his life to peace and reconciliation, such as his role in brokering a peace treaty between the Crips and Bloods gangs. His mom, "Mama" Wajeha began preparing homecooked meals for the needy in the 1960s to help heal the wounds of oppression through food.
